World Series "Fun Day" and Opening Ceremonies on Thursday August 6th will be at the Mebane Arts/Athletic Complex

 

8U, 10U, and 12U teams - you are invited to spend the day with IFA on Thursday August 6th. We will start with a "Fun Day" from Noon - 6pm. We will have wet slides for the kids until 6pm. We will also be doing team check-in from 4pm - 6pm for all teams then the Opening Ceremonies will begin. First - we will announce each player from each team and let you line up on the field. Then we will have a Homerun contest (coaches pitch so bring you coach), Fastest Runner, Team Relay (need 4 players from your team), and Fastest Pitcher. Each team can have up to 3 participants in each event. 1st and 2nd place in each event will win a trophy. Following all of this will be the highlight of the evening - the Coaches Dance contest! Winner will get a pizza party for their team during the weekend.

 

Following these activities, there will be a softball game between the Coaches and IFA Directors / Umpires. You can sign up for this during the check-in. We will play a 3 inning exhibition game. If we have at least 20 coaches, we can split you up and play 2 - 3 inning games.

 

Coaches / Parents "Kick-off" party will be Saturday August 8th at 8pm @ the Best Western in Burlington. If you are planning on attending the party, please email Larry so he can order enough food.

 

Teams- If you are participating in the "gift bag exchange" or wanting to swap World Series pins, please let Larry know so he can match you up with other teams that are participating.

Gift Exchange will be on Friday.

 14U, 16U, and 18U will be played Saturday Aug 1^st – Monday Aug 3rd. Opening ceremonies will be on Friday July 31^st starting at 6pm. This will be at Springwood Park in Burlington with check-in from 4pm – 6pm. You will be able to register for the Home Run derby, Fastest runner and Fastest pitcher contest during check-in. Contests are part of the opening ceremonies along with a Coaches Dance contest. Winner of Dance contest will get a pizza party during the event for their team. We will also have a DJ on site to announce each team.

A Coaches and Parents only Kickoff party for 14U, 16U, and 18U is being planned for Saturday evening August 1st at Best Western. Appetizers and drinks will be provided. No admission cost for kickoff party.  

 

 8U, 10U, and 12U will be played Friday Aug 7th  – Sunday Aug 9th. Opening ceremonies will be on Thursday Aug 6th starting at 6pm. This will be at Mebane Park with check-in from 4pm – 6pm. You will be able to register for the Home Run derby, Fastest runner and Fastest pitcher contest during check-in. Contest are part of the opening ceremonies along with a Coaches Dance contest. A Coaches and Parents only Kickoff party for 8U, 10U, and 12U is being planned for Saturday night Aug 8th starting at 8pm @ Best Western. Appetizers and drinks will be provided. No admission cost for kickoff party.  

 

Games for both events will be played at both parks during the week.

 

We will also have a “Fun Day” for all age groups on Thursday starting at 11am - 5pm. 

 

The tournament format will still be a 5 game guarantee with 3 pool games seeding into a double elimination tournament. The fee will be reduced to $375 but we will need to charge a gate admission. Gate will be the same as usual - $5 per adult and $3 for kids 6-12. There will not be a gate fee for the Opening Ceremonies.

 

We are also lifting the requirement of having to play in a prior IFA event to qualify. We are just trying to promote IFA and allow as many as we can into the inaugural Event.

 

We hope these changes will relieve your minds and allow you to participate. We are looking forward to our 1^st ever World Series and hope to see you there!!

Saturday August 1st - IFA will be hosting a Coaches/Parents kickoff party at the Best Western in Burlington. The party will begin around 8pm. Appetizers and drinks will be provided by IFA.

Coaches- If you plan on attending the kickoff party, please RSVP by July 25th with the number attending, so we can order enough food.

 

If you are planning on playing in the World Series and need a Hotel, you need to start looking for reservations ASAP. There is a Market America convention in Greensboro the same time and Hotels in Burlington are starting to catch some of the overflow. Rooms will be scarce as we get closer to the event.

 

UPDATE We know that most teams won't have time to get pins for trading, but we do encourage you to participate in the team gift bag exchange. Keep your price range around $10-$15 per bag. Let us know and we will match you up with another team participating.
